Mermaid Splint

Indications : Genu Valgum ( Knock Knee)

Key Features :

The device consists of two metal uprights ( medial and lateral side) , two plastic band ( thigh and calf region) one knee pad. All are padded with soft material. The upper end (thigh band) of the splint is wider than the lower end.

It was used in resting position so it is also called as night splint.

Function : There are 3 point force system to control genu valgum (knock knee).
Force 1 : Medial directed force on the lateral aspect of thigh band.
Force 2 : Lateral directed force on the medail aspect of knee joint.
Force 3 : Medial directed force on the lateral aspect of calf band.
